Plantain Chips

Plantain, also known as “cooking bananas” or “green bananas”, are banana cultivars that are only eaten when cooked. They are generally very starchy. You can recognize them because they are typically bigger than common bananas, with a greener skin, while the pulp is of a light pink-e-ish color.
Plantain is cooked in a myriad of different traditional recipes. Here’s a good one to start enjoying this fruit, as it’s really easy and quick. Plantain chips are delicious and can be made in only a few minutes, with just three ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 plantain
- 1/5 cup olive oil
- Pinch of garlic salt
Preparation
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over a high heat. Peel and slice the plantain. Sprinkle with salt. When the oil is hot, fry the plantain slices until they are golden.
Transfer the plantain chips to a dish lined with kitchen paper, to absorb the excess oil. Eat immediately, while hot!
Enjoy your snack!
